The city of Denton is renovating Union Circle starting on May 12, 2025. The work is expected to be completed by the end of the fall semester.

Union Circle is closing for construction from Monday, May 12, through the end of the fall semester. This work is taking place to install new water utilities, repair sidewalks around the Union Circle perimeter and redo the road. Once Union Circle reopens, traffic flow will be reversed from what it is currently. Instead of moving clockwise, traffic will flow counterclockwise, entering from Chestnut Street and exiting onto Prairie Street. Map showing Union Circle will be fully closed, including adjacent sidewalks. Ave A between Maple and Eagle is also closed including the intersection and portion of Maple between Ave A and Central Ave. Highland Street Parking Garage's exit must turn right onto Highland Street, which will remain open to traffic flow.
