Map showing the eastern half of Lot 7 will be closed. The sidewalk along the south and north sides of the construction fencing will also be closed.

Lot 7 will be the site of UNT’s new Science & Technology Building. Lot 7 is currently designated as an Eagle (student commuter) parking lot, with nearby on-street parking for both Eagle permit holders and F/S (faculty/staff) permit holders.

Preliminary fencing is expected to go up the week of September 16th. This fencing will cover about half of the parking lot. The other half of the parking lot will remain open during this initial phase.

Sidewalks running along the north and south sides of the fencing will also be closed. If you need assistance finding alternate pedestrian routes, please contact Facilities Work Control by calling 940-565-2700 or emailing Work.Control@unt.edu.

Full parking lot closure is expected to happen in late fall 2024 – possibly as early as November, but likely in December. Construction of the new building is expected to take about two years.

In the image to the right, please note that one entrance to the lot will be closed off during the initial phase (shown as a red X) so please only use the entrance designated above with a yellow arrow.

UNT Transportation Services has made some accommodations to help student commuters find parking, including:

  • Construction of Lot 59 on the old Oak Street Hall site. Students can find this lot at 1120 W. Oak Street.
  • Reworking some previous resident parking lots and making them Eagle parking lots. Notably, Lots 14 and 15, which are across the street from a bus stop of the Mean Green route (MG111).
  • Expansion of Eagle spaces in Lot 20, across from the UNT Coliseum. The AC101 bus runs between Lot 20 and the Life Science building area roughly every 10 minutes, providing students with quick transport to the heart of campus.
