UNT Facilities Planning, Design and Construction is renovating offices, student gathering areas and classrooms on the third floor of Sage Hall for student programs. The McNair Scholars, Emerald Eagle Scholars, Honors College and TAMS are a few of the programs that will benefit by this construction.
New floors, glass boards and furniture are being added, and rooms are receiving renovations to make them more ADA-accessible following universal design principles. The goal of this project is to make the area more welcoming and truly a student-focused environment.
“This area will be bright, inviting, resourceful and comfortable for students,” said project manager Cheryl Smith. “We want students to feel like this is an area they can hang out and collaborate.”
The first floor of Sage Hall has already been renovated and created academic success program space for students to utilize. A revamp to the second floor is to come this fall and winter. Construction on the third floor will be finished before the fall semester begins by mid-August.
