Professional association recognizes UNT’s commitment to excellence and continuous improvement.
The Texas Association of Physical Plant Administrators (TAPPA) presented UNT Facilities with the “Stars Across Texas Award” for excellence in educational facilities management at this year’s annual conference. The TAPPA Stars Across Texas Award recognizes an organization’s commitment to a high level of service and outstanding achievements in management operations.
“I am very proud of my teammates for winning this award. Our staff toils tirelessly behind the scenes, 365 days a year, so it is absolutely awesome to see our peers recognize the Facilities Team for service and excellence," said Dave Reynolds, Associate Vice President for Facilities, as he accepted the award.
Recipients of this award excel in the seven categories of outstanding facilities management: leadership, strategic and operational planning, customer focus, information and analysis, development of human resources, process management and performance results. In 2018, Facilities completed 161 construction projects, fulfilled over 35,000 work orders and managed 357 full-time staff members.
UNT Facilities’ mission is to provide a safe, engaging, and reliable physical environment for the University of North Texas through a customer-driven approach. According to Reynolds, “this award is an honor to receive but maybe more important is the award’s affirmation that we are headed in the right direction with the operational changes and employee development and engagement we have been implementing. This award indicates we are a step closer to fulfilling our department’s vision to be the nation's premier university support organization, recognized for excellence in service and sustainable solutions for facilities operations, maintenance and development.”
